Daily Plinth Launches as the First Video Platform for the Art World

New York, NY – January 31, 2018 – Daily Plinth , the art world’s first online platform for viewing and sharing editorial-quality video content, is pleased to announce that it will be launching on February 1, 2018. The site will serve as a channel for art lovers and members of the visual arts community to view and discover the latest videos from their favorite artists, studios, galleries, museums, foundations, and special events on a daily basis.

The platform was co-founded by Cornell DeWitt, who will also serve as its publisher, in response to a need within the art community for a forum through which to present and promote video content from across the art world. Speaking about the site’s upcoming launch, DeWitt said: “Video content has emerged as one of the most important methods of communicating in the art world and beyond. We saw the need to have a dedicated platform for the art world, and hope that Daily Plinth will have an enormous positive impact on our community. We believe that the deeper engagement afforded by video content will lead to increased real-world engagement with art.”

Each video will be selected by the Daily Plinth’s editorial team and are scheduled:

Monday : Museums (exhibition previews, walkthroughs, highlights) Tuesday : Galleries (as above)
Wednesday : Studios (artists)
Thursday : Vault (historical content in all categories)

Friday : Market (from art fairs and auction houses to trends in the art market) Saturday : Longform (talks, lectures, mini documentaries in all categories) Sunday : Community (other nonprofits, social justice, and public art projects)

Daily Plinth will also invite a guest editor each month to make selections to be featured on the site. These editors will range from curators and collectors to leading writers and members of the media. The first editor will be announced in March 2018.

Videos will typically range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes, with long-form offerings (10 minutes or greater) available on Saturdays when viewers might have more time to view them. Visiting the site and signing up for the mailing list is free, and Daily Plinth will continue to roll out new features to enrich the viewers’ experience.

Visitors to the site will have the option to rate the videos and share them on their own social media platforms, as well as to subscribe to daily or weekly updates. The search function will allow subscribers to search for content related to categories and subjects important to them, and as the site becomes more significantly populated with content, it will also provide a terrific research and archiving tool. At the end of each year, Daily Plinth will announce the video of the year based on the video that is most viewed, liked, and shared.

Speaking of the future of the platform, DeWitt continued “As the site grows, we envision that content providers will be encouraged to continue to elevate their practice and produce timely, editorial-style video content, to ensure that we emerge as one of the most trusted daily content experiences .

For content partners, there are a limited number of sponsored slots designated each day so additional video content can be posted on the site, provided it meets Daily Plinth’s editorial guidelines and standards.
